WVAS to Present Second Annual Nat King Cole Society Jazz Festival

WVAS 90.7 FM public radio station will be presenting its Second Annual Nat King Cole Society Jazz Festival on Sunday, Sept. 4th.  Artists will include Montgomery's Ron Handy, King Bee and headliner Maysa performing a tribute to Natalie and Nat King Cole.  The performances will be held at the Riverwalk Amphitheater in downtown Montgomery, gates open at 3 p.m. with performances starting at 4 p.m.  Tickets are $20 for adults, or $35 for festival and cruise, children 12 and under are one dollar.  Tickets can be purchased at Heritage Barber Shop, Ted the Wine Guy, Filet and Vine and Another Chance Package store.  The number for more information is (334) 229-4708 or online at wvasfm.org.  

Melanie began her career as a work study student, working in the areas of news reporting, anchoring and news-gathering. After graduating from Alabama State University, she worked as a production assistant at the local NBC affiliate, WSFA-TV. As a News Director at WVAS-FM, Melanie leads her team to produce award- winning newscasts and talk shows. Her professional achievements includes News Reporter of the Year for a number of years and awards for talk show producer, by the Alabama Broadcasters Association and the Associated Press. She is an active member of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. Her goals are to expand the reach of WVAS FM into more homes locally, regionally and nationally.
