The head of Retirement Systems of Alabama is warning of dire consequences for the economy if political leaders in Washington can not reach an agreement on the so-called fiscal cliff. In his comments to county commissioners earlier this week, Dr. David Bronner said despite the back and forth between D.C. Democrats and Republicans, this financial situation has to be dealt with. Bronner adds that two-thirds of the economy is the consumer who has to feel comfortable with spending their money.
Montgomery's third annual "Success Starts Here" tour highlighted four of 13 companies Friday. The businesses made significant capital investments this year that totaled more than $35 million dollars. The four consisted of the Lear Corporation, Alabama Media Group, GLOVIS Alabama and Rheem.
Monday, Governor Robert Bentley will join the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs for the 2012 Wreaths Across America Statehouse Ceremony. The event will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the auditorium of the State Capitol. After the ceremony, a wreath will be taken to the Fallen Heroes Memorial Wall in the old Supreme Court Chamber. The event will pay tribute to America's fallen service members and honor those who are currently serving.
