Rebates for appliance program off to strong start

By ADECA urges Ala residents to seek rebates

Montgomery, AL – - After three days, more than half of the
money available to Alabama has been reserved to replace certain
types of old appliances with Energy Star-labeled models.
According to the website set up by the Alabama Department of
Economic and Community Affairs, about $1.99 million in funds was
still available late Wednesday afternoon.
The program provides rebates of $25 for room air conditioners,
$50 for freezers, $75 for dishwashers, $100 for clothes washers and
$150 for standard-size refrigerators.
It runs until May 9 or until the money runs out. Authorities say
by Wednesday, state residents had reserved 18,496 rebates.
ADECA warns consumers to reserve a rebate before making a
purchase.
