Montgomery County District Attorney Department Recognition

Members of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office are getting some well deserved recognition at the state level for the work they do to fight for justice.  Montgomery County Deputy District Attorney Scott Green has been named Assistant District Attorney of the Year for 2016 by the Alabama District Attorneys' Investigators Association.  Green started as a prosecutor with the Montgomery County District Attorney's office in September of 1999 and has prosecuted every type of case.  He has been the director of the Violence Against Women Unit where he prosecuted sexual assault and domestic violence cases and is currently the director of the Violent Crime Unit.  He has tried 183 jury trials, obtaining convictions in most of them.  Also in the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Chief Investigator Michael Thomas has been elected the president of the Alabama District Attorneys' Investigators Association.  Thomas will serve in that capacity for the next two years.  

Melanie began her career as a work study student, working in the areas of news reporting, anchoring and news-gathering. After graduating from Alabama State University, she worked as a production assistant at the local NBC affiliate, WSFA-TV. As a News Director at WVAS-FM, Melanie leads her team to produce award- winning newscasts and talk shows. Her professional achievements includes News Reporter of the Year for a number of years and awards for talk show producer, by the Alabama Broadcasters Association and the Associated Press. She is an active member of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. Her goals are to expand the reach of WVAS FM into more homes locally, regionally and nationally.
