Alabama is among fewer than a dozen states where the price of regular unleaded gas has fallen below two dollars a gallon. Although Monday's national average is $2.21 per gallon, Triple A Alabama spokesman Clay Ingram Ingram says the average price of gas in the state's four largest cities currently ranges from $1.87 in Montgomery to $1.98 in Mobile. Triple A said pump prices have declined in 47 states over the past week, making the cost of fuel substantially lower in every state compared to 2015.
