Blue Bell Creameries has started ice cream production trial runs in Alabama three months after a listeria scare halted all sales.  The Texas-based company said it's evaluating the enhanced production processes at its plant in Sylacauga, Alabama.  Blue Bell earlier this month notified federal and Alabama health officials of its plans for test production.  Blue Bell has not said when sales will resume.

Body Burned

Authorities say a man has been arrested after a badly burned body was discovered in a blazing hayfield in Elmore County.  Police say 32-year-old Christopher Cearley was arrested Wednesday night on a capital murder charge in connection with the death of 31-year-old John Dubose of Haynville.  Police say that same night authorities found Dubose's body in a hayfield that was on fire in the Redland community.  The Montgomery Police Department says an investigation found that Dubose was shot and killed in Montgomery before being transported to Elmore County.  Police say the investigation, which is ongoing, indicates that the shooting may have been drug related.  Cearley is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility without bond.

One man was killed and two others were injured in a Wednesday evening shooting in Selma.  Selma police say a 26-year-old man who suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh and the abdomen died from his injuries at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.  A 34-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the head and is being treated at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery.  A 33-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the left hand.  The victims told police that a tan or cream colored Chevrolet Tahoe stopped at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Highway 80 East opened fir on them.  The motive for the shooting is unknown and remains under investigation.

More Arrests

Authorities say a second arrest has been made in the abduction of a Bibb County woman and the slaying of her sister.  Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Trooper Reginald King said in a release 45-year-old Gary Wade Rowland is charged with aiding and abetting and kidnapping in the abduction of Tammy Carpenter.  Authorities have said 60-year-old John Barry Hubbard is charged with capital murder and kidnapping and that Carpenter is his estranged girlfriend.  Hubbard is charged with murder in the shooting death of her 30-year-old sister Kandi Murphy.  When Hubbard was arrested authorities said they were searching for a possible accomplice who rented him a motel room.  King says Rowland was arrested without incident Thursday morning and is being held without bond in the Bibb County jail.
