Australia honeymoon murder suspect returns to Ala
Birmingham, AL – A man accused of killing his new bride
on a honeymoon scuba dive in Australia has been returned to Alabama
to face capital murder charges.
Gabe Watson was escorted by Alabama law enforcement officers as
he arrrived at the Birmingham airport late Monday night. He was being
taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
Watson's attorneys have said they plan to ask for a bond hearing
for him. Attorney General Troy King has agreed not to seek the
death penalty, which would be possible if convicted of capital
Watson arrived in Birmingham on a flight from Atlanta after his
trip originated in Los Angeles, where he has been held since being
extradicted from Australia last month.
