ASU Students Help Thousands of Low-Income Families

A group of college students in Montgomery including several from Alabama State University helped a record 9,000 low-income families receive more than $17 million in refunds through a free tax preparation program.  The SaveFirst for Impact Alabama Director, Lynn Groft says the IRS certified program trains college students to prepare tax returns for low-income families in the state.  Groft says the program is a partnership between colleges, universities and community volunteers.
