Alabama State University has received a supplemental award of 90-thousand dollars from the National Science Foundation. The funds will allow researchers at ASU to continue their cutting-edge work in tissue regeneration with a specific focus on the anterior cruciate ligament. The research could eventually be used to help injured soldiers or accident and burn victims, according to principle investigator Derrick Dean. The project is a collaborative effort between several academic disciplines, including faculty and students in the chemistry and biology departments.
