Alabama Abortion Law Ruled Unconstitutional

U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson ruled Monday that an Alabama law restricting abortion doctors is unconstitutional.  State lawmakers passed the law last year requiring doctors at abortion clinics to have hospital admitting privileges.  Executive Director of the ACLU of Alabama Susan Watson welcomed Thompson's decision.  Supporters of the law contend it would make clinics safer.  Clinic operators claim it would force the shutdown of three of Alabama's five clinics.  Thompson issued an order temporarily blocking enforcement of the law.  State Attorney General Luther Strange has said he will appeal.
