Ala launches effort to promote tourism in small towns
Montgomery, AL – - This year is for you if you live in a
small town in Alabama.
The state is kicking off a tourism campaign called the "Year of
Alabama Small Towns and Downtowns" on Tuesday with a ceremony in
Montgomery. Gov. Bob Riley will attend.
The campaign is meant to focus attention on the state's smaller
cities. During the year, more than 200 towns will put on "Great
Alabama Homecoming" events and unveil historic markers as part of
the tourism effort.
