28 Counties Placed Under Drought Emergency in Alabama

A drought emergency has been issued for North Alabama and parts of East and Central Alabama. The Declaration by the state’s Office of Water Resources placed 28 counties under the drought emergency.   Conditions across Alabama become dryer every day as there is little rainfall and above normal temperatures.     The Office’s Water Management Unit manager Tom Littlepage says falling reservoir and groundwater levels also have indicated drought conditions have become more severe. Water managers are urged to monitor water sources and implement conservation measures as needed. Last week Governor Robert Bentley signed a No Burn order for 46 Alabama Counties.
