Montgomery, Alabama – (AP) - Some key legislators say they may pass a resolution later this week to have the Retirement Systems of Alabama do a detailed financial study of the prepaid college tuition plan. Senate Budget Committee Chairman Roger Bedford of Russellville says that will provide needed information on how big the problems are. State Treasurer Kay Ivey says that's not enough. Ivey is the leader of the board that oversees the plan. She says the tuition plan needs an infusion of cash.

Montgomery, Alabama – Montgomery Police are looking for a suspect in the city's 13th murder. The search continues for 20 year old Courtney Givan of Sandy Ridge Curve.
Govan is wanted in connection with the murder of 22 year old Jervarion Wright. Police were called to Bristol Downs apartments off Carmichael Road just after midnight Saturday and found Wright had been shot once in his chest.
Police are not releasing a motive,but they say that it does NOT appear that this was a random shooting.
Birmingham, Alabama – (AP) - Mayfield Dairy Farms has announced it is recalling containers of its Mayfield Homemade Vanilla Select Ice Cream because of possible ammonia contamination. The Birmingham-based company said the voluntary recall is for 1.5-quart containers of the ice cream. Ammonia contamination can cause headache, nausea, vomiting and irritation of the throat.
Montgomery, Alabama – (AP) - The Alabama Department of Public health urges Alabamians to use caution in flood waters because it may contain fecal material from overflowing sewage systems. In a press release, the department warned that flooding from Thursday's torrential rainfall across the state may result in contaminants being washed into streams, creeks and rivers. Those with open cuts or sores are advised to keep them as clean by washing well with soap to control infection.
