Yellow Dot Program

With the addition of Bullock County, all of Alabama's 67 counties are now participating in the Yellow Dot program.  Residents who enroll will be given circular yellow decals to place in the window of their vehicle.  They will also be asked to fill out a health information packet and put that into the glove compartment.  That way, first responders can access the motorist's medical history in the event of an accident.  For information on how you can enroll, you may go to the program website, www.adeca.alabama.gov/yellowdot.

Electronic Solicitation

An Alabama appeals court has ruled for the first time that a person can be convicted of electronic solicitation of a child even if the person communicated with an adult.  The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals decided unanimously Friday to uphold the conviction of Kenneth Rosier of Mobile County.  The convicted man admitted communicating with a Saraland police officer posing as a woman with two young daughters available for sex.  But he contended the case should be dismissed because he was communicating with an adult.  The appeals court said Rosier was properly convicted because he attempted to commit electronic solicitation of a child, including going to a residence to meet the fictitious children.  He was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
