Few details are available on the city's latest homicide.  Montgomery Police are investigating the shooting death of 34-year old Anthony Bailey of Greenville.  Bailey was found shot in the 1900 block of Hilldale Drive Monday night at about 8:40.  He was transported to Baptist Medical Center South where he was later pronounced dead.  Circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.  Police are asking for anyone with information on this incident to call them at  (334) 625-2831 or the Secret Witness line at (334) 262-4000 or CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP. 

Weekend Fatalities

Single-vehicle crashes in Montgomery and Autauga Counties claimed the lives of a man  and woman in their twenties over the weekend.  The first accident occurred in Montgomery County Saturday afternoon on U.S. Highway 231.  State Troopers said 25-year-old Christopher Colin Ledbetter of Wetumpka was killed when the pickup truck he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree.  It happened less that a mile south of Anderson Road around 3:30 p.m.  The victim was reportedly not using a seatbelt. 

The second wreck took place on Alabama Highway 143, approximately seven miles south of Marbury.  Authorities report that a vehicle ran off the road and overturned.  A passenger in the car, 23-year-old Morgan Autrey of Prattville, was killed.  Troopers said both the driver and Autrey were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle.  Both accidents remain under investigation. 

ASU Mourns

The death of a former Alabama State University basketball player has shaken former teammates.  25-year-old Jevon Freeman of Lithonia, Georgia, was found shot to death in his car on November 6th.  According to police in Clayton County, Georgia, Freeman was slain while trying to sell an iPhone 5 he had advertised on the Craigslist website.  Freeman's teammate at ASU, Trumayne Moorer, said he won't soon be forgotten.  ASU Head Basketball Coach Lewis Jackson said Freeman was a "happy go lucky kid" who was fun to be around and worked hard in practice every day.  Clayton County, Georgia, police said two teenagers, ages 17 and 18, are charged in Freeman's death. 

Hancock Bank

Hancock Bank is slated to open a corporate operation at the Capital Commerce Center in east Montgomery and provide 200 new jobs for area residents.  Ron Milliet, Chief Information Officer for Hancock Bank, said this new location will provide dynamic opportunities for the region.  Hancock Bank was founded in 1899 and operates in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida.
