Monday's optimism over a possible bipartisan solution to Washington's latest budget impasse has been replaced by more partisan rancor.  House Republicans Tuesday unveiled a proposal stocked with conservative priorities, and the White House instantly rejected it.  The immediate result has been to freeze Senate negotiations.  Auburn Montgomery Economics Professor Dr. Keivan Deravi says a default would have global repercussions as well as domestic. 

ASU Students

Life goes on for the students at Alabama State University even as the headlines have been filled with news of preliminary findings from a forensic audit of the schools' financial activity.  Several ASU students say despite the allegations, they are staying focused on their education.  A record-breaking number of students enrolled at Alabama State this fall.  A total of 6,076 students which is a four percent increase over last year. 

Ping 4 Alerts

The Autauga County EMA and other emergency outlets have adopted a new emergency alert system called "Ping 4 Alerts."  The EMA along with the Prattville Police and the sheriff's office will be able to relay messages instantly to smartphone users.  Other alerts to be disseminated  by the Autauga County EMA will include severe weather, siren testing and public meetings.
