Officials at Alabama State University and the Alabama Public Health officials are working together to investigate a case of pulmonary tuberculosis that was identified in an ASU student.  University officials have notified around 600 students and faculty who may have come into close contact with the student.  Alabama State requires all students to show documentation before beginning classes to prove they have tested negative for tuberculosis.  Doctors say TB is a treatable and preventable disease. 

Good Shepherd

A Montgomery police department initiative aimed at sending clergy members to crime scenes has caught criticism from an atheist organization and the American Civil Liberties Union.  Operation Good Shepherd faces scrutiny.  Leaders of the groups say the program raises First Amendment concerns.  Montgomery Public Safety Director Chris Murphy says he'll discuss the initiative with the groups, but said that it's meant to lower Montgomery's violent crime rate. 

Counterfeit Currency

Authorities in Chilton County say a 25-year-old Clanton man is accused of printing counterfeit currency.  According to the Clanton Police Department, Terron Corey Mims faces multiple counts of possession of a forged instrument and could face additional charges. 

ASU Football

Two high-powered offenses will be on display when the Alabama State University Football team host SWAC rival Prairie View A&M Saturday afternoon.  It's a 1 p.m. kickoff for Saturday's SWAC showdown in new ASU Stadium.  The game can be heard live on WVAS-FM.
