Things were a bit bumpy Tuesday, the first day Alabamians could sign up for health insurance under the Health Care law.  The initial signup yesterday began with a stalled website, an error message and menu that didn't work.  In 36 states, including Alabama, where the federal government is running the marketplaces, a snag involving security questions on users' accounts cropped up repeatedly, preventing many from completing their enrollment. 

MPS Superintendent

Montgomery County School Board members could be preparing to terminate Superintendent Barbara Thompson's contract.  Thompson was hired in 2009.  Thompson said she is prepared to forge ahead and asked for continued prayers and support for our children, my board employees and me.  The school board meets at noon today. 

Seatbelts

More than half of the people killed so far this year in traffic accidents on Alabama highways were not wearing seatbelts.  The state Department of Public Safety reports 367 traffic deaths through September.  The department says 302 of the fatalities were in vehicles equipped with seat belts, and 178 victims were not using the seat belts. 

Serial Burglar

Millbrook Police need your assistance in finding a serial burglar.  According to Central Alabama CrimeStoppers, a single male is believed to responsible for multiple business burglaries in Millbrook.  On September 25th, surveillance video captured a male stealing goods from Tobacco Plus, Majestic Nail and Nail Tech.  The suspect was seen driving away in a 1995 or 1996 white Ford Ranger pickup truck.  CrimeStoppers is offering a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to his arrest.  The number is 215-STOP.
