A state court official said new judicial appointments will have to be made to hear separate gambling cases pending in Macon and Greene Counties.  The Montgomery Advertiser reports today that all the qualified judges in Macon County have recused themselves from a case in which the state attorney general wants to have electronic gambling machines and money seized at VictoryLand forfeited to the state.  The Alabama Supreme Court ordered Macon County Circuit Judge Tom Young to step down from the case.  The State Administrative Office of the Courts is responsible for appointing judges to hear the gambling cases. 

Food Stamps

Alabama Congresswoman Terri Sewell was the only member of Alabama's seven-member House Delegation to reject legislation that would slash the nation's food stamp program.  Republicans narrowly approved the bill Thursday that would cut the program nearly four billion dollars annually.  Kimble Forrister with Alabama Arise said conservatives should leave the program alone.  

Body Identified

Police in Troy have identified a body found in a pond as Robert Earl Teague of Troy.  Police said investigators do not believe foul play is involved in the man's death.  Teague was reported missing on September 14th and found four days later by a Pike County Commissioner who was cutting grass around the pond on Diana Street.  The body was found on Wednesday. 

ASU Football

The Alabama State University Football team will be looking to notch another victory when they entertain Grambling State University Saturday afternoon.  The Hornets enter the contest with a 1 and 2 record.  The Tigers are 0 and 2.  The game is at 5 p.m. at the new ASU football stadium.  The game can be heard on WVAS 90.7 FM.
