HPV Vaccine

A recently completed survey contained findings disturbing to the Alabama Department of Public Health regarding the HPV vaccine.  The survey, that included polling from Alabama, found that only about 20 percent of young people in the 18 to 24 age group had received the vaccine which immunizes them from the virus that causes cervical cancer.  Director of Cancer Prevention for the department, Dr. Catherine Chapman says that's primary because people in that age group often don't have health insurance or a family doctor.  Dr. Chapman says local health departments are also a goo source for the vaccine.
