Alabama Power predicts rates will remain level through 2014. State regulators last month voted to revise its rate stabilization plan for Alabama Power. They say the change will result in annual savings for consumers of $30 to $110 dollars. Alabama Power says the modification won't result in any immediate reduction in customer bills.
Former U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin is returning to Xavier University in New Orleans. Benjamin is an Alabama native who is widely respected for founding a rural health clinic in the state that she kept operating after it was destroyed by fires and hurricanes three times.
Tallassee Police say they need the public's assistance in identifying three people accused of stealing thousands of dollars in cell phones from a Walmart store. According to Central Alabama CrimeStoppers, the thefts occurred September 11th around 7 p.m. Surveillance cameras captured the images of two males and a female entering the Walmart in Tallassee. Police said the trio broke into a locked cabinet and stole more than $6,000 work of cell phones including iPhones and Samsung phones. The suspects were believed to be driving a silver four-door Volvo SUV. Anyone with information is urged to call Tallassee Police of Central Alabama CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP.
