Dozens of civil rights activists from various organizations will participate in this weekend's 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.  Bernard Simelton of the Alabama chapter of the NAACP said the commemoration is important because of the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling that weakened Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act.

Bodies Found in Prattville

Police in Prattville say the bodies of two 19-year-old males were found last night at a residence on Sycamore Street, located off Highway 14.  Police Chief Mark Thompson said the parents of the one of the victims found the bodies around 7 p.m. last night.  Prattville authorities said the Department of Forensic Sciences will determine the cause of death.

Suspicious Substance

A county sheriff says a suspicious substance that caused an evacuation of the state Attorney General's Office in Montgomery turned out to be dried toothpaste.  Dallas County Sheriff Harris Huffman said an inmate at the Dallas County Jail used toothpaste to seal a previously used envelope and then sent the envelope to the Attorney General's Office.  The envelope contained a letter complaining about the jail.  The office was evacuated last Wednesday after the white powdery substance was discovered.

Fatal Vehicle Crash

Lee County sheriff's officials say the driver in a fatal, single-car crash is free on bond.  The Opelika-Auburn News reports that 22-year-old Parker Lowell Ivey of Montgomery was charged with driving under the influence and is free on $750 dollar bond.  Authorities said Ivey was driving Sunday morning when the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee he was riding in left Interstate 85, hit a guard rail and overturned in a ditch.  His passenger, 22-year-old Collier Ann Byers, also of Montgomery, was killed in the crash.  Ivey was not injured.
