Alabama Power lifted an alert caused by a caused by a carbon dioxide leak at a nuclear power plant in southeast Alabama.  The utility said the alert was lifted Saturday morning, about five hours after it was first declared.  An Alabama Power spokesman said the carbon dioxide release was detected in an auxiliary building of the Unit 1 reactor at Plant Farley in Houston County.  The leak was contained.  It appears the gas came from a fire suppression system, thought no fires were detected.  No other equipment failures were reported.  No radiation was released. 

Reward Money

The search continues for the individual who shot and robbed a postal truck driver in Hayneville.  Postal inspectors said the employee was attacked last Thursday around 5:30 p.m.  Postal officials declined to release the employee's name.  The worker remains in a Montgomery hospital today listed in stable condition.  The Postal Service is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the crime. 

Selma Job Fair

The 2nd Annual Congressional Job Fair will be held Wednesday, August 7th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wallace Community College Selma.  The job fair is sponsored by Congresswoman Terri Sewell, she represents Alabama's 7th District.   More than 50 employers are expected to attend.
