Alabama's Department of Senior Services will play a major role in helping to provide a photo ID to Alabamians.  Commissioner Neal Morrison tells WVAS that Governor Robert Bentley want the agency to develop an additional plan to help more voters comply with the state's photo voter ID law in time for the 2014 elections. 

Second Suspect

A second suspect has been formally charged in the July 1st shooting death of 25-year-old Leive Watkins.  Montgomery Police said 20-year-old Rico Gilmer is charged with capital murder in Watkins' death.  The victim was slain in a shootout at an apartment complex on Narrow Lane Road.  Police have said the shooting occurred during a drug transaction.  Gilmer was also shot and wounded during the incident.  He was arrested following his release from a local hospital on Saturday.  Another male, 23-year-old Dontavious Jones is also charged with capital murder. 

Murder Charge

Police in Troy say a 24-year-old woman has been charged with murder in connection with Monday's shooting death of 29-year-old Melvin Scott.  Tiffany Upshaw was ordered held on $100,000 bond.  Troy authorities said Upshaw and Scott were in a relationship, but did not disclose the circumstances surrounding the shooting. 

MPD Lawsuit

A homeowner is suing the Montgomery Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service for damaging her east Montgomery residence during a search for fugitive Desmonte Leonard.  He had been wanted in an Auburn triple homicide case in June of last year.  Yakemi Ward filed the lawsuit in Montgomery Federal Court seeking compensatory and punitive damages.  Ward contends U.S. Marshals and Montgomery police officers caused thousands of dollars in damages to the house on Barons Court.  The suit also states that authorities have refused to pay for the damages.  There has been no comment from Montgomery City officials or the Justice Department.
