Forecasters say a flash flood watch is expected to cover most of Alabama. Showers and thunderstorms fueled by moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Flooding is possible throughout the weekend in many parts of the state.
A federal judge has delayed the point-shaving trial of former Auburn basketball player Varez Ward to allow him time to apply entry into a pretrial diversion program. Ward had been set for trial July 22nd. But U.S. District Judge Keith Watkins delayed it to Nov. 4th. Ward was arrested June 3rd on charges of bribery related to a sports contest and conspiracy counts. He's accused of trying to fix the point spread in Auburn's Southeastern Conference game against Arkansas on Jan. 25, 2012. He has pleaded not guilty.
Triple Homicide Arrests
Birmingham police say they have arrested two people in a triple homicide. They said 26-year-old Stanley Chatman and 21-year-old Crystal Nelson were arrested in the deaths of 17-year-old twin brothers Jonathan and Jerry Berry. The two were shot along with their mother June 28th when a group of people ransacked the family's house.
