Eleven individuals from the River Region participated in Monday's Boston Marathon and al of them escaped injury after two explosions rocked the event Monday afternoon.  Federal investigators said no one has claimed responsibility for the attack that killed three people and wounded more than 140.  Montgomery Public Safety Director Chris Murphy said the city will increase security for this weekend fundraising event for the Joy to Life Foundation. 

MLK Marker

Alabama's governor plans to join Birmingham officials to unveil a marker commemorating where Martin Luther King Jr. wrote his "Letter from Birmingham Jail."  King's youngest daughter, Bernice King, is scheduled to speak at the ceremony today next to the site of the old city jail.  Today marks the 50th anniversary of King writing the letter while jailed for his role in civil rights demonstrations.  He wrote the letter after some white Alabama clergy suggested he find ways other than demonstrations to seek racial equality. 

Impersonating a Police Officer

A 25-year-old male is being held in the Elmore County jail today charged with impersonating a police officer.  Police said Caleb Phillips of Deatsville was arrested Monday morning at a Target store in Prattville.  Authorities said Phillips was seen inside the store wearing a ballistic vest, a holster with a BB gun in it and an Autauga County Sheriff's Department badge on his belt. 

Teens Arrested

Two teens have been arrested in the stabbing death of a third teen in Abbeville.  Henry County Sheriff Williams Maddox tells the Dothan Eagle two unidentified teens have taken into custody in connection with the fatal stabbing from Saturday night.  17-year-old Tyric Brown was stabbed in his arms and torso.  The sheriff said the teens will likely be charged with murder and are expected to appear in court today.
