Stillman College will be the new opponent in next year's Turkey Day Classic football game.  Tuesday, Tuskegee University announced its football team will not play in the annual football game against Alabama State University.  The Golden Tigers said their final game of the 2013 season will be November 9th against Miles College.  Tuskegee officials said the move will allow the team to play in the NCAA Division two playoffs if they're eligible.

Montgomery's 13th Homicide

Montgomery police say a 76-year-old woman is jailed in connection with the murder of her 77-year-old husband.  Madie Ivey is accused of killing Dave Ivey at an apartment in east Montgomery.  Police believe the couple got into an argument that escalated into violence.  Authorities said the victim died after being struck in the head.  Police responded to the homicide Tuesday afternoon about 3:45 p.m.  Madie Ivey was being held on a $75,000 dollar bond.  It was Montgomery's 13th homicide of 2013.

Democratic Pushback

In response to last week's forceful passing of School Accountability legislation by Republicans in the Alabama Legislature, Democrats are deliberately slowing down the legislative process.  Senators are asking that bills be read in their entirety and are also using the full allotted time to speak on each bill.  Democratic Representatives spent hours at the podium talking about the Accountability legislation.  Jefferson County's Representative Patricia Todd complained that protocol was not followed in approving the bill.  Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh contends no rules were broken during passage of the bill.  He says the fallout will be worth it if students have a chance for a better education.
