March is Women's History Month!

Forecasters say we can expect heavy rainfall through Saturday morning.  A low pressure system will develop over the state.  Forecasters said the main threat will be damaging straight line winds Friday afternoon through the evening hours.  Heavy rain Friday and Friday night could result in localized flash flooding through Saturday morning and minor river flooding for the rest of the weekend. 

Montgomery Mall

The former Steve and Barry's store at the old Montgomery Mall is getting new life as the city moves ahead with plans for a fire station and police presence.  Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange said the project will take place in three phases and will use about 70,000 square feet.  The first phase will be complete in nine to ten months.  The city purchased the space for about $300,000 dollars.  Phases two and three will round out the $4 million dollar project, they include a community meeting center and walking trail. 

Spending Cuts

Governor Robert Bentley said the state stands to lose 24,000 jobs if automatic government spending cuts kick in on March 1st.  Governor Bentley said the greatest impact in Alabama would be defense-related jobs in the Huntsville area.
