More than 500 people attended a rally on the steps of the Alabama Capitol to celebrate the legacy and birthday of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.  State Representative Alvin Holmes and others led a large parade up Dexter Avenue to the state Capitol steps.  Holmes said Dr. King's message of non-violence is important especially in Montgomery, because seven people have been murdered since the new year began. 

Public Database

An Alabama state lawmaker has pre-filled legislation that would require the state auditor to keep a searchable public database listing any piece of personal property owned by the state and valued at $500 dollars or more.  Republican Representative Paul DeMarco of Homewood announced today that he is sponsoring the legislation in an attempt to bring more transparency and accountability to government.  DeMarco says taxpayers should be able to see what exactly is being purchased with their tax money. 

Missing Montgomery Man

A woman is asking for help from the public in locating her 69-year-old father.  Willie Clayton Reynolds has been missing from his Montgomery County home since December 20th.  He suffers from high blood pressure and a bone disorder known as Paget's disease.  Kenosha Reynolds told the Montgomery Advertiser her father's white Ford Ranger truck was found on U.S. 29 southbound in Auburn.  Lee County CrimeStoppers is offering a $5,000 dollar reward for information that helps locate Reynolds.  Anyone with information about his location can call Lee County CrimeStoppers at 1-888-522-7847.
