Forecasters from the National Weather Service say north Alabama rain could turn into snow before it ends. The Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for much of the area, saying parts of north Alabama could receive one to four inches of snow. Forecasters say snow could begin tonight and might continue into Friday in some places.
The state of Alabama wants the U.S. Supreme Court to review part of its law cracking down on illegal immigration. The state asked the judges Tuesday to review a section of the law that makes it a crime to assist, harbor or transport anyone who's in the country illegally.
Three people have been sentenced on charges stemming from a 2011 carjacking and kidnapping. Authorities says the three men assaulted and carjacked a coupled who had been lured to a rural area and drove off withthe couple's three young children.
A second ex-Alabama prison guard has pleaded guilty to being involved in the severe beating of an inmate and helping other prison employees cover it up when the inmate died. Matthew Davidson pleaded guilty Tuesday in Montgomery. Two other former prison employees await trial in the 2010 beating death of Rocrast Mack.
