It's being reported that Auburn has hired Gus Malzahn as head football coach.  A person familiar with the decision told the Associated Press that the decision should be announced soon.  Malzahn was the offensive coordinator during the Tiger's national championship run in 2010, but spent last season at Arkansas State in his first college head coaching position.  He lead the Red Wolves to a 9-3 record, a Sun Belt Conference title and a berth in the GoDaddy.com Bowl.

Flu Season

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has identified Alabama as one of five states in the country getting an early start on flu cases.  Acting State epidemiologist Dr. Mary McIntyre talked to WVAS about what that means, said it's hard to say why that is happening.  Dr. McIntyre says this year's flu vaccine matches up well with the flu strains that have been found so far.  She said getting a flu shot is the best course of action, but also advises washing your hands frequently, covering a cough and when you do feel sick, staying away from other people.

Bank Fraud

Authorities say a woman is facing federal bank fraud charges stemming from a scheme to steal $900,000 from a company she worked for.  Lisa Owers Cochran was charged with one count of bank fraud.  Authorities say Cochran stole money between December 2005 and April 2012 from a Jefferson County moving company where she worked as controller.  Officials say she wrote fraudulent checks and paid herself with debit charges from the company's account.  Officials say Cochran forged the signatures of two other Armstrong employees on the checks and made false entries in the company's financial records to conceal the theft.
