March is Women's History Month!

Three juveniles are on the run today after escaping from the Mount Meigs Youth Facility on Interstate 85.  According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the three teenagers escaped Saturday night after they overpowered two employees and stole a vehicle.  The juveniles are considered armed and dangerous. 

Making History

State Senator Vivian Davis Figures will make history for Alabama women in 2013.  The Mobile senator's fellow Democrats have chosen her to begin a two-year term as minority leader in February.  Legislative leaders say she is the first woman they can recall as a minority or majority leader in either the Senate or House.  Figures says it's a honor not just for her, but for all women in Alabama. 

ASU Homecoming

It will be a week to remember for alumni and fans of Alabama State University.  Its Homecoming Week and dozens of events are planned leading to Thursday's Turkey Day Classic and the opening of the new stadium.  Hornet fans who remember games played in the original Hornet stadium are excited.  The Annual Turkey Day Classic will kick off at 3 p.m.

Kettle Campaign

Governor Robert Bentley and officials with the Salvation Army will launch the 2012 Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign in downtown Montgomery.  Bentley will launch the 2012 campaign today on the state Capitol steps. The campaign provides funds to the Salvation Army for emergency shelter, food, clothing and day to day assistance.
