Police in Tuscaloosa say the suspect who fired into a crowded bar in downtown Tuscaloosa is behind bars today. 

Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steve Anderson said 44-year-old Nathan Van Wilkins of Northport walked into a Fed-Ex store in Jasper and told employees that he was the suspect authorities were looking for.  Police have not established the motive behind Tuesday's mass shootings that left 18 people wounded, five were listed in serious condition. 

First Lady

First Lady Michelle Obama will be in Alabama today, her itinerary includes a visit to a summer camp for children whose lives were affected by last year's tornadoes.  Mrs. Obama will be the featured speaker today at a fundraiser for her husband's re-election campaign at the Sheraton Hotel.

Change Approved

The vote was unanimous, the Montgomery City Council last night approved a compromise that will allow the names of Rosa Parks and Bertha Pleasant Williams to be placed on signs at a Branch Library in west Montgomery.  Supporters sought the honor for Ms. Williams who was Montgomery's first black librarian.  The Council also approved a resolution expressing sorrow for the police shooting death of Bernard Whitehurst nearly three decades ago.

Conviction Upheld

Jimmy Lamar Killingsworth Junior has for the second time been convicted of capital murder in the 2004 attack on a Bibb County couple.  Tuesday, Killingsworth pleaded guilty to capital murder and the guilty verdict was affirmed by a Bibb County jury.  He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
