WVAS-FM Launches The Program "Insight"

WVAS-FM is proud to announce the availability of "Insight", a new series hosted by Milton Shirdan.

"Insight" is a series of one-hour programs highlighting the lives and music of some of the giants who helped shape America's music - jazz. The package also includes generic and weekly promos.

Included in the series are programs featuring Abbey Lincoln, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Art Blakey, Betty Carter, Billy Strayhorn, Billy Taylor, Bud Powell, Cannonball Adderley, Charles Mingus, Charlie Parker, Chico Hamilton, Clifford Brown, Coleman Hawkins, Count Basie, Dave Brubeck, Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Gil Scott Heron, Hank Jones, Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Scott, John Coltrane, Johnny Hartman, Lee Morgan, Lou Rawls, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Nancy Wilson, Nina Simone, Oscar Peterson, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Rudy Van Gelder, Sarah Vaughan, Sheila Jordan, Thelonious Monk, Wayne Shorter and Wes Montgomery.

Milton Shirdan is currently the assistant music director and host of "Jazz at Nite" on WVAS-FM, an NPR-affiliated station in Montgomery, Alabama. Born in Montgomery and raised in Philadelphia, Milton holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Temple University School of Communication and Theater. He is a veteran of over twenty years in jazz and urban radio in markets including Trenton (NJ), New York, Atlanta, Athens (GA), Philadelphia (PA) and Tuskegee (AL).
