Victim Identified In Tractor Trailer Crash

Police have identified the man killed in a crash on Hyundai Boulevard Monday.  They say 29-year-old Maurice Perry of Montgomery died at the scene where two 18-wheelers collided near the Hyundai Assembly Plant.  He drove one of the trucks.  The driver of the second tractor-trailer was not seriously injured.  Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.

Stock Market Ride

The stock market has been a roller coaster so far this week.  Many people are concerned about their retirement plans.  But Investment Advisor Lanny Crane with Jackson-Thornton Asset Management in Montgomery recommends keeping a cool head.  He tells his clients to maintain an attitude of "benign neglect."  The market's bumpy ride is being blamed on China's uncertain economy and how that might affect the financial picture globally.

Map Creation

Federal judges want lawyers for black lawmakers to come up with their own map for redrawing Alabama's legislative districts.  The request came Tuesday in Montgomery during a hearing over the new voting lines.  Lawyers for black legislators contend Republicans illegally sorted voters by raced when they drew new district lines.  The three-judge panel put though questions to both sides during two hour of arguments.  They challenged the plaintiffs to draw a map that keeps districts the same size without following similar racial patterns.  Attorneys replied they could have something done in a few weeks.
