Two Deadly Shootings

Montgomery Police say two men are dead following separate shootings Sunday that occurred within a three hour period.  Officers and Fire Medics responded to the 1200 block of Bragg Street around 1:40 p.m. where they found 31-year-old Taurio Mushat of Montgomery dead from a gunshot wound.  Police said four additional gunshot victims were treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

A second shooting occurred just after 4 p.m. in the 4000 block of Colfax Drive.  Police said 35-year-old Kendrick Jones of Montgomery sustained a fatal gunshot wound.  Police said no arrests have been made in either case. 

Workplace Development

More than 30 representatives of the business and education communities make up the Alabama Workforce Council that met at the State Capitol Monday.  The group will help pave ways for students to finish their education with the skills best suited for employment.  The Workforce Council was created during the 2014 legislative session. 

ASU Interpretive Center

The National Park Service has chosen Alabama State University for a location for exhibits honoring the 1965 historic march and its impact on American government.  Congresswoman Terri Sewell was among the guest speakers at Monday's press conference held at ASU.  Sewell praised the National Parks Service for selecting ASU as the third Interpretive Center on the Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights Trail.  Two other Interpretive Centers are located in Selma and Lowndes County. 

Deadly Accident

State Troopers say a Pike Road man died Sunday night in a single vehicle crash in Dallas County.  59-year-old Quintrue Carter was killed when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and overturned.  The crashed occurred just before 9:3 p.m. on County Road 4 in the Minter community.  Troopers said Carter was not using a seatbelt. 

Resource Officer Sentenced

A former Dothan police officer is going to prison for having sex with a high school student.  A Houston County judge sentenced 37-year-old Lanice Clifton Bonds to 10 years in prison during a hearing Monday.  Bonds worked as a resource officer at Dothan High School.  Bonds has been station at the school for six years.
