Thursday Brings Severe Weather Threat to Alabama

Montgomery, Alabama – (AP) - Another strong storm system is expected to push its way into Alabama.
National Weather Service forecasters say hazardous weather is
likely across central and southern counties Thursday.
The storms may produce heavy rain, dangerous cloud-to-ground
lightning, hail and strong wind gusts.
Meantime, Alabama Power Company said it has opened spillway
gates at six Coosa River dams - Weiss, Logan, Martin, Lay, Mitchell
and Jordan lakes. Another gate at Neely Henry lake will be opened
later Thursday.
Residents are urged to listen to media outlets and National
Weather Service radio for possible watches and warnings.
