Teens admit guilt in woman's death, await sentencing

By Four Montgomery teens enter plea deal in fatal beating case

Montgomery, AL – - Four teens have pleaded guilty to felony
murder in the beating death of a Montgomery woman.
The Montgomery Advertiser reports that Herbert L. Turner,
Jhavarske A. Lewis and Quanderrious Johnson, all 18, and
16-year-old Zeris L. Walker pleaded guilty to roles in a Sept. 11,
2008, robbery and beating that left 53-year-old Brenda Sherard
dead.
All four accepted plea agreements Monday. The are set to be
sentenced next month.
Walker is set to receive 30 years in jail because prosecutors
say he's the one who used his fist to beat Sherard until she fell
to the ground. Turner is set to get 25 years in jail, while Lewis
and Johnson are both set to get 20 years.
Sherard suffered a massive heart attack shortly after the
beating and died at a hospital two days later.
