Task force commander critical of Victoryland closing

By John Tyson contends Victoryland owner violated court order

Montgomery, AL – - The commander of the Governor's Task
Force on Illegal Gambling says updating thousands of gambling
machines at VictoryLand in Shorter violates a court order.
VictoryLand shut down its 6,000 machines Monday night. Owner
Milton McGregor said it is for computer upgrades that have been
planned for some time, and the work will take a few days.
VictoryLand got a court order Friday morning that blocked a raid
by the governor's task force. Task force Commander John Tyson Jr.
said that court order required the casino to preserve the evidence.
He said altering the equipment is a direct violation of that court
order and shows that McGregor thinks he is above the law.
