The first of two public meetings on the future of Georgia Washington Middle School was held last night. A proposal to sell the school to the town of Pike Road was included in a budget plan defeated last week by the Montgomery County Board of Education. Attendees were outspoken in their support of the school. An impact study is being conducted into how a sale of the school would affect students in the area. A second community meeting is set for this Thursday at the Professional Service Center on South Union Street at 6 pm.
