The State Board of Education may overhaul Alabama's Student Testing Plan

Montgomery, AL – (AP) - The State Board of Education is
considering an overhaul of Alabama's student testing plan,
including the high school graduation exam.
The board meets Thursday in Montgomery to consider replacing the
graduation exam with end-of-course tests.
The board is also looking at requiring all high school juniors
to take the ACT college entrance test. State Superintendent of
Education Joe Morton says he hopes that would get more students
thinking about going to college.
The board is considering adding a test of students' readiness
for college and a career.
The proposed changes would take effect with the 2011-2012 school
year.
