South Alabama Braces for High Winds and Rain

Birmingham,Alabama –

(AP) - South Alabama is getting hit with waves
of rain but little else from the remnants of Tropical Storm
Claudette.
The storm spread showers across south Alabama early Monday as it
moved into the state after coming ashore in the Florida Panhandle.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for the
region.
The rainfall was heaviest in Covington County, but emergency
management director Susan Carpenter said there weren't any problems
early with flooding or high winds.
Conditions could get worse later in the day. The National
Weather Service says some areas could get 5 inches of rain or more,
bringing with it the risk of flooding. Forecasters say there's also
a chance of isolated, weak tornadoes.
