Prosecution Ring

The FBI says a 17-year-old Alabama teen and a six-week-old baby are among the victims who were rescued in a recent nationwide prostitution sting.  Authorities in Birmingham and Huntsville joined the FBI's Child Exploitation Task Force and arrested three pimps in Alabama.  More than 280 pimps were arrested in other U.S. cities.  According to the FBI in Birmingham, the sex-trafficking investigation involved undercover agents making contact with victims who were being prostituted in 106 cities across the country.  The FBI said Operation Cross Country 8 ended Sunday and victims were offered housing, counseling and medical assistance. 

Winfrey Watch

There have been sightings of media mogul Oprah Winfrey in Montgomery's downtown district.  Winfrey is one of the producers of the movie "Selma" which began filming Monday on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma.  Winfrey will play a supporting role in the film, she'll portray civil rights heroine Annie Lee Cooper, who was involved in a fight with then Dallas County Sheriff Jim Clark for the right to vote in 1965. 

Hyundai's High Marks

The Hyundai car brand has received its highest-ever quality marks from JD Power.  Three Hyundai vehicles, including the Elantra and Sonata cars manufactured at the automaker's west Montgomery plant, finished in the top segments in a 2014 quality study.  The JD Power study measured problems experienced by drivers during the first 90 days of ownership. 

Tuskegee Shopping

Tuskegee's Mayor Johnny Ford says his office is working to bring a major shopping complex to an area near the Exit 38 ramp off Interstate 85.  Ford said the multimillion dollar project would include a hotel, a restaurant and a Greyhound Bus terminal.  Ford said construction is scheduled to start in the fall.  The mayor said the site is close to the Tuskegee Airmen's Museum complex.
