By 177-year old cotton gin in Prattville to close
Montgomery, AL – - Continental Eagle Corp., a cotton gin
manufacturing company founded in Prattville by town namesake Daniel
Pratt 177 years ago, is moving production to India.
David Mrozinski, the company's vice president of international
sales, said Tuesday that engineering, marketing and some other
functions will stay in Prattville, but the main work will go to
Bajaj Steel Industries in Nagpur, India. He said the Alabama plant
will be phased out over the next year.
The Montgomery Advertiser reported that Prattville Mayor Jim
Byard said the move was better than a total closure of the company.
