Possible General Fund Budget Approval

Alabama lawmakers could give final approval to the General Fund budget Tuesday, setting up an expected veto by Gov. Robert Bentley over Medicaid funding.  Bentley has said that the spending plan is unacceptable and he will veto it.  The budget is $85 million short of the amount Bentley says is needed to adequately fund the state's Medicaid program.  Senate budget chairman Trip Pittman says he plans to seek Senate concurrence on the House-passed budget Tuesday, sending it to the governor.  Pittman says lawmakers don't have a way to provide the additional funds for now.  He says he hopes to continue the discussions about possible solutions.
