Police Confiscate Money During Traffic Stop

Montgomery, Alabama – A routine traffic stop nets a big find for Montgomery Police. Officers discovered $345,915 dollars in a tractor trailer on Interstate 85 recently.

Police questioned the driver about the money; but he claimed he did not know how the money got into the closet of the cab of his truck. Montgomery Police released the driver but kept the money.

The vehicle was stopped after police clocked it traveling 62 miles per hour in a 50 miles per hour zone. K-9 dogs which are trained to sniff out illegal drugs were used in the search of the tractor trailer. Police say at some point the money must have been in contact with illegal drugs, and that's why the dogs found it.
