Police Charge Montgomery Man with Murder

Police have made an arrest in a murder that took place last Thursday.  20-year-old Reo Davis of Montgomery has been charged with murder in the shooting death of 19-year-old Kendre Williams.  Davis was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals on Tuesday in Clarke County.  The incident reportedly occurred in the 3800 block of South Court Street at around noon May 28th.  Investigators say the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute.  Davis is in the Montgomery County Detention Facility under $250,000 bond.

Memorial Day Arrests

Authorities say 21 boaters suspected of operating vessels under the influence were arrested over Memorial Day weekend.  An Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesman says authorities also investigated six boat crashes and offered assistance to five vessel operators between May 22nd and 25th.

Memorable Visit

Alabama State University welcomed the great-grandson of legendary Prime Minister Winston Churchill Wednesday.  Duncan Sandys met with ASU President Dr. Gwendolyn Boyd to talk about the upcoming 60th anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycott.  Sandys has been named as honorary chairman of ASU's commemoration of the event.  Sandys, like his great-grandfather, is a strong advocate of history and human rights.  The Boycott Commemoration will be held in December.
