Motorists are now enjoying Montgomery's Outer Loop or Route 108 as it has been named. Phase one of the multi-million dollar project opened to traffic Tuesday after years of construction. The road connects I-85 with Vaughn Road. It is ultimately meant to reach Interstate 65, but the Alabama Department of Transportation's Tony Harris says the money isn't available right now. The connector cost $150 million to construct. 80 percent came from federal dollars and 20 percent was funded by the state.
