Outgoing senator makes endorsement in Dist. 28 race

By Myron Penn endorses Beasley for state senate seat

Union Springs, AL – - Retiring state Sen. Myron Penn of
Union Springs is endorsing state Rep. Billy Beasley of Clayton to
be his successor.
Beasley faces former Tuskegee Mayor Johnny Ford in the
Democratic runoff July 13 for Senate District 28.
Penn says Beasley will continue the work he has done to move the
district forward. The district includes all of Barbour, Bullock,
Henry and Macon counties and part of Lee and Russell counties.
The runoff has attracted attention beyond the district's
boundaries because Beasley, who is white, is trying to win in a
district where the majority of the residents are black. Ford and
Penn are black.
