Officer Resigns in Montgomery

A Montgomery police officer has resigned after being charged with felony leaving the scene of a traffic accident.  22-year-old Officer G.T. Farris was arrested by state troopers Tuesday and placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.  The charge stems from a two-vehicle crash that occurred early Tuesday morning at the intersection of West and Fifth streets in Montgomery.  Montgomery Police asked the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency to investigate the crash after determining that the vehicle was registered to and operated by an off-duty MPD officer at the time of the crash.  Farris and the driver of the second vehicle both sustained minor injuries.
